Three Fresh Ideas

What your colleagues are doing this summer

Vol. 2, Edition 6, August 2024

Hi, friend,

I hope you’ve enjoyed some summertime R&R. Our team members have vacationed in fun spots from Florida to California and from Louisiana to the Great Lakes.

They hiked, napped, learned, swam, danced, boated, read, camped, spelunked, explored and practiced magic tricks. What really matters is they spent time with people they love.

There’s tremendous power in taking time away from work. That’s why I remind our team to use up those PTO hours. I want them to be healthy and happy. As a bonus, they return with the renewed energy and creativity that underpin great client work.

It may be vacation season, but it’s also a busy work season. This newsletter gives you a glimpse into what’s occupying your colleagues at other companies this summer. We love sharing what we’re learning.

Wishing you more sunny days,

Annual Enrollment can help retain employees
Boring

Annual Enrollment may be in October, but if you’re a comms pro, the hard work is probably underway.

Here’s some food for thought: Annual Enrollment can be an employee retention strategy.

Employees only value their benefits if they understand and appreciate them. Even if your benefits package is average, you can stand above the rest by communicating more clearly and in a more engaging way.

Our latest blog post offers practical tips to help you make your benefits guide clearer, create effective two-way communication and engage leadership to make sure everyone sails smoothly through the enrollment period.

Workshops: Like meetings, only better

Sometimes you need more than a meeting.

You need to give everyone a voice, while moving the team out of “analysis paralysis.” You need more creative and strategic thinking. And you want to get everyone in alignment on the best way forward.

Consider a workshop.

A workshop isn’t just a meeting by a different name. It’s a powerful tool for establishing a collaborative and creative environment where people focus on making meaningful progress.

We’ve facilitated workshops on a range of communications issues, including:

  • Establishing brand messaging
  • Defining corporate voice and tone
  • Developing a benefits communications strategy
  • Mapping a job candidate’s journey

Let’s put it this way: Would you rather be invited to another meeting or a 90-minute workshop with a promise of real progress?

We thought so.
