CHALLENGE
Countless zoo professionals, community leaders, financial supporters, families and individuals have made the Louisville Zoo into an esteemed institution and have made the planet better along the way. For its 50th anniversary celebration, the Zoo wanted to share their stories in a special commemorative book to mark the occasion.
OUR APPROACH
Oh, the stories. Compassionate people, dedicated professionals, amazing animals, births and deaths … there was no shortage of material. In collaboration with Zoo staff, we dug through the archives to identify the most moving stories of the most significant developments in the Zoo’s history.
Finally, WordsFresh writers wrote 34 articles based on more than 40 interviews, connecting each story to at least one of the Zoo’s four service pillars: Animal Well-being, Education, Conservation and Family Fun. We created a magazine-style format to allow for a comprehensive timeline running from front to back. Each article stands alone, but the book as a whole tells the larger brand story of the Zoo and its mission to better the bond between people and our planet..
